My Take on This: Don't be a bubble-buster!

Well hello again!

Have you ever given thought to how some people want to burst the bubble of someone’s “moment of happiness?” Thank goodness not everyone is like that, or we would lose interest in sharing our happy times.

Let’s say, for instance, that I bought a car. It’s a 2012 model, but it feels like I own a 2017 model. Up until that moment, I’ve never owned a car newer than the year 1998. I have reason to be ecstatic—until, that is, I meet a “bubble-buster.”

You know who you are. You will immediately let me know you have just bought a 2017 model that is loaded. You will go on to tell me how you can start it while inside your house on a cold winter’s day and your car will be cozy and warm when you get inside.

Well, mine won’t do that, but what you don’t understand is that mine has a heater that will get warm, while my last car had a window that needed my assistance to push it down or raise it up. Of course, that took both hands, and now (I’m excited to say) I just push a button and have access to a cool breeze!

The biggest difference in this monumental moment is that, for once in my lifetime, I have luxuries. You own bragging rights because you get a new car every year. Having bragging rights must be a great feeling. I can only imagine, because the closest I get to bragging rights is standing next to you as you brag.

This doesn’t mean I’m jealous of you, even though you do have the newer car with many more luxuries. I’m proud for you, but is it really too much to ask that you can be proud for me and not have a need to take away my moment?

I hope that through this article I’ve made you aware of how such a small act of kindness can make such a big difference to others. If I’ve made you realize even more that your happiness comes from boasting and bragging, then all I have to say is, “to each his own.”

But for me and my true friends, we will keep uplifting and supporting each other and sharing in our “moments of happiness.” So, please excuse me for now. I have a friend who just bought four new tires, and, yes, that is a big deal. Up until this moment, she only could buy one or two at a time.
