With its final budget workshop set to begin immediately thereafter, the Franklin County Commission held a short business meeting Monday morning.
The commission approved the hiring of Angie Haney as a tag clerk in revenue commissioner Veronica Stancil's office. Wesley Priest's hiring as a temporary employee in the Franklin County Solid Waste Department was also approved.
Commissioners approved a contract with Lee Helms to bring the county's 14 storm shelters into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Other action by the commission included:
•Approving a new job description for the position of recording clerk/assistant chief clerk in the Franklin County Probate Office.
•Accepting the resignation of Chad Holcombe and the termination of Hunter Faulker with the Franklin County Sheriffs Department. Commissioners also approved advertising for the vacant deputy position and the hiring of a temporary corrections officer/dispatcher.
•Advertising the position of technology coordinator. Frank Hoehn, who is retiring from the position, will assist in the training of his replacement.
•Approving the resignation of Ramsey Hester from the Solid Waste Department.
•Approving the hiring of temporary GIS employee Justin Clark with the Franklin County Highway Department.
•The tabling of a proposed agreement with Mar Jac.
•Approving the renewal of an inmate medical contract with Southern Health Partners.
•Reappointing Chris Ozbirn as director/archivist with the Franklin County Archives.
•Accepting the resignation of Gary Hester as board member of the Franklin County Water Board, as Hester was appointed chairman of the board.
•Rescinding previous action that added EMA director Jody Hitt to the Franklin County 911 Board, as said action was found to be in violation of state requirements.
