Russellville High School alumni, students and fans will celebrate Homecoming 2016 a little earlier than usual, as Homecoming arrives during week five of the Golden Tigers’ football season.
Russellville will host a familiar opponent as the Hartselle Tigers come to town this Friday, September 23. Hartselle and Russellville were 5A, Region 8 rivals until the Tigers moved up in class to 6A in 2014.
Several activities will take place in conjunction with Homecoming, including float building each night from 6-9 p.m. through Thursday, September 22. Students will attend a special pep rally Friday morning from 10:45-11:15 a.m. at which the Homecoming Queen will be crowned.
This year’s Homecoming Court includes Layne Boyd, Kayla Cochran, Kalli Beth Daniel, Ashlee Davidson, Caroline Jackson, Madison Lamon, Stephanie Monterroso, Ana Perez, Chloe Pounders, Carley Seal, Mercedes South and Kaidin Wallace.
All Russellville City Schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. Friday in order for students to attend the RHS Homecoming Parade, which begins at 1:30 p.m. in downtown Russellville.
With the Golden Tiger football team playing five of its first six games at home, it was necessary to hold Homecoming earlier than most years.
