Russellville City Pool open for the summer

The scorching days of summer in Alabama can be brutal, but there are few better ways to beat the heat than a nice dip in the pool.

On May 30, the Russellville City Pool opened up for the summer and is ready to accommodate families and groups looking to have a fun and safe day in the water.

“We’re looking forward to a good summer,” said Jeff Studdard, the assistant superintendent of the Russellville Parks and Recreation Department, who manages the city pool at the Russellville Sports Center.

“We’re open from 12 p.m. until 5, seven days a week,” he added.

The pool, with trained lifeguard staff, is also available to rent after hours for private groups and parties. Private parties can rent the pool starting at 5:30 p.m., Studdard said. The cost starts at $80 for two hours.

Swimming lessons will also be offered at the pool this summer.

“The lessons will be Monday through Thursday and they cost $30,” Studdard said. “The next sessions start July 10.”
