Downtown Chevron to sell beer, wine

The Russellville City Council approved an application from the Downtown Chevron to allow retail beer and table wine sales at the council's March 5th meeting.

Downtown Chevron, owned by Jim Sibley, is located at 109 Madison Street. Prior to the vote, there was a public hearing on the application and no citizen input was received.

In other action, the council:

--approved the purchase of a 2018 Ford F350 4x4 Crew Cab for the Russellville Fire Department and the trade-in of a 2006 Ford F350 Crew Cab 4x4 Dually for $11,000 trade-in value.

--accepted the resignations of Jarrod Crittenden and Jonathan Steele from the Russellville Fire Department and declared two vacancies for firefighter and authorized advertisement to solicit job applications.

--approved a claim for $700 by Susan Seal for damages to her fence during police pursuit of a suspect on drug charges last month. The suspect fled on foot and the ensuing chase damaged the Seal's fence.

--approved the waiver of the A.W. Todd Centre rental fee for the Family Guidance Center of Alabama on May 10, 2018, for Kids and Kin Recognition Day and from the gospel group Purpose on March 3, 2018, for a spring sing.
