Lady Bulldogs battle back, fall short in sub-regional loss to R.A. Hubbard

A big second-half comeback was not enough to send Belgreen’s girls to Hanceville on Monday, as the Lady Bulldogs saw their season end in sub-regional play with a 56-47 loss at R.A. Hubbard.

Trailing by 18 at the break, Belgreen (15-15) came roaring back in the third quarter behind a three-point play from senior guard Brianna Wood and three-pointers from Jasmine Martin, Shellie Barber and Kaycee Wilson. R.A. Hubbard (17-8) recovered, however, and advanced to face Pickens County in the Northwest Regional semifinals.

Martin, a junior guard, finished with 15 points to lead the Lady Bulldogs. She hit two threes and went 3-for-5 from the line. Belgreen was just 12-for-22 from the line as a team.

Wood and freshman Katie Dempsey each scored seven points, and sophomore guard Gabbie Moore added five. Barber and Emma Dempsey finished with four points apiece, and Wilson had three. Sophomore Camie Terrell added two.

Charm Sausberry led Hubbard with 21 points and 14 rebounds. KeeUndria Bolden added 13 points, and Catera Troupe had 10.
