Vina’s girls set a new season-high for points scored and had four different players post double-doubles on Monday night, cruising to a 92-24 rout of visiting Shoals Christian.
Senior point guard Abby Hester scored 21 points and handed out 18 assists to lead the Lady Red Devils (9-2), who jumped out to a 23-5 lead after one quarter and extended it to 53-9 by halftime. Vina then out-scored Shoals 25-6 in the third quarter to take a 78-15 lead into the fourth.
Hester shot 5-for-7 from three-point range and 2-for-2 from the foul line, adding six steals to go along with her ninth double-double of the season. Eighth-grader Rayleigh Guin finished with 19 points and 10 steals, and sophomore guard Kaitlyn King scored 17 points. Kaleigh Vandiver had 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Sarah Johnson added 10 points and 10 boards.
Junior Emma Humphres chipped in with seven points (including a pair of threes) and 10 rebounds. Sara Scott finished with five points, and Abbie Petree added two.
The Lady Red Devils, who are 1-1 in Class 1A, Area 13 thus far, will play area games at home on Thursday against Tharptown and on Friday against Belgreen.
