Mason Bragwell scored 25 points for Belgreen on Friday night, and Seth Taylor added a career-high 23 as the Bulldogs remained unbeaten in area play with a 69-50 home win over Tharptown.
Bragwell, a 6’6 junior, scored 18 first-half points, helping Belgreen (13-3, 4-0 in Class 1A, Area 13) take a 37-25 lead into the locker room. He finished the night 8-for-13 from the foul line and also made eight field goals (including one three-pointer), topping the 20-point mark for the 10th time this season.
Taylor, a senior guard, scored eight of the Bulldogs’ nine total points in the third quarter, helping them maintain their double-digit lead. Taylor hit four threes on the night and went 3-for-3 from the foul line, easily surpassing his previous season-high of 12 points.
Payton Scott added eight points for Belgreen, and Jacob Mayberry finished with four. Gaven Taylor and Jake Taylor each made one of the Bulldogs’ seven three-pointers, and Eli Hiser also scored three points. Belgreen was 16-for-23 from the foul line.
Seniors Cole Daniel and Levi McCormack combined to score 15 first-quarter points for Tharptown, helping the Wildcats stay within one at 19-18. They trailed by 12 at the half and by 10 after three quarters before Belgreen out-scored them 23-14 in the fourth.
Daniel finished with 21 points, and McCormack added 15. Edward Lopez scored seven, Carson Petree had five and Winston Nolen added two.

Belgreen 62 Tharptown 49
Jasmine Martin made four of Belgreen’s nine threes on Friday, helping the Lady Bulldogs overcome a big night from Brooke Daily to beat Tharptown for the second straight game.
Daily, a sophomore post player, scored seven of her game-high 21 points in the third quarter, which ended with the score tied 41-41. Daily scored six more points in the fourth, but Belgreen (which had beaten Tharptown 78-57 in its final game before the New Year) out-scored the Lady Wildcats 21-8 over the final eight minutes to pull away for the win.
Freshman Emma Dempsey led Belgreen with 13 points, seven of which came in the big fourth quarter. Martin finished with 12 points, and sophomore Autumn Bragwell added three threes and nine points. Gabbie Moore and Gracie Dempsey scored seven points apiece and combined to go 7-for-8 from the foul line in the second half.
Katie Dempsey and Camie Terrell each finished with five points, and Ansley Tate scored four.
Sophomore Aly Vandiver hit a pair of first-quarter threes for Tharptown and finished with 14 points. Shaylee Wieting and Linda Bahena added four apiece, and Gracie Montgomery, Adriana Borden and Ameliah Dawson each scored two.
