Phil Campbell’s girls held Belgreen to just one two-point field goal for the entire game on Thursday night, beating the Lady Bulldogs 68-37 for their third straight win.
Ten different players scored for Phil Campbell (13-5), led by Kallie Allen with 16 points and Abby Davis with 12. The Lady Bobcats led 17-6 at the end of one quarter and 41-19 at the half.
Belgreen (11-7) made only three shots from the floor in the first half, all from beyond the arc. Autumn Bragwell hit a three in the first quarter, and Gracie Dempsey and Jasmine Martin each connected from deep in the second quarter. Emma Dempsey scored the Lady Bulldogs’ only two-point bucket of the night in the third quarter.
Dakota Elliott finished with 10 points for Phil Campbell, and Caitlynn Mills added nine. Darby Elliott scored seven points, and Chloe Roberson had five. Carley Nix and Emily Swinney each added three points, Megan Bullock scored two, and Kaci Harris added one.
Emma Dempsey shot 10-for-14 from the foul line and led Belgreen with 12 points. Gracie Dempsey scored seven points, and Camie Terrell added six points on a pair of threes. Martin finished with five points, and Emma Willingham hit a three. Megan Smith scored one point.
Phil Campbell can clinch the right to host the Class 2A, Area 14 tournament with a win at Sulligent on Monday night. Belgreen will return to action with an area game at Tharptown on Saturday.
