Red Bay rides 12-run third inning to sixth win in last seven games

Red Bay rode a 12-run third inning to its sixth win in seven games on Tuesday at Covenant Christian, routing the Eagles 16-6.

Junior third baseman Kolby Bragwell led a 13-hit attack, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs and four runs scored and raising his season average to an even .700 (21-for-30). He has driven in 18 runs and scored 18 in ten games.

Leading 2-0, the Tigers (7-3) sent 17 men to the plate in the top of the third and collected eight hits, all singles. They also took advantage of three walks and two hit batters. Bragwell had a two-run single, and Red Bay also got RBI singles from Max Bullen, Kaleb Bragwell, Alex Burroughs, Luke Rooker and Hayden Murray. Chase Allen capped the inning with a two-run single to make it 14-0.

Covenant capitalized on three errors by the Tigers to score six runs in the bottom of the fourth, but Red Bay responded with two runs in the top of the fifth. Kolby Bragwell delivered an RBI double and then scored on a base hit by Allen to make it 16-6.

Skylar Brazil (2-0) earned the win, allowing just one earned run on three hits in 3.2 innings. He struck out five and walked four. Kaleb Sims came on in relief and recorded the final four outs without allowing a run.

Allen was 2-for-3 with three RBIs, and Burroughs went 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Rooker was 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs, and Murray went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two steals. Bullen finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored, and Kaleb Bragwell was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
