Lady Bulldogs improve to 4-1 in area play with wins over Vina, Hackleburg

Belgreen’s girls pulled into a tie with Tharptown atop the Class 1A, Area 13 standings with a pair wins on Thursday, beating Vina 10-0 and Hackleburg 17-2.
 
Emmie Scott and Cortney Williams led the Lady Bulldogs (4-1 in area play) at the plate, each going 6-for-8 in the two games. Camie Terrell also had a big day, finishing 4-for-6.
 
Freshman pitcher Emma Dempsey dominated in the circle for Belgreen, striking out a total of 10 batters in the two games while allowing only two hits.
 
In other softball news, the Franklin County Tournament has been postponed a second time from this weekend to next weekend due to the forecast of stormy weather for Saturday.
