Game 3 of Russellville's quarterfinal baseball series with Springville has been postponed due to wet weather until Monday at 4:30 p.m. at Russellville Baseball Stadium.
The two teams split a doubleheader on Friday, with Springville (25-12) winning the opener 19-15 and the Golden Tigers (27-15) bouncing back for an 18-7 win in Game 2. The winner of Monday's Game 3 will advance to face Mortimer Jordan in the Class 5A semifinals.
Saturday's postponement means that Russellville will have all of its pitchers available for Game 3 on Monday, including Game 2 starter Caden Parker and Game 1 starter Landon Ezzell. Both of those pitchers threw less than 76 pitches on Friday [Parker threw 69, Ezzell 40], so they require just two days of rest before taking the mound again.
Senior right-hander Rudy Fernandez, who was on track to start Game 3 had it been played as scheduled on Saturday, will also be in the mix to take the ball on Monday.
For Springville, Game 1 starter Braden Hughes (91 pitches) and Game 2 starter Ivan Cornelius (87 pitches) will be unavailable to pitch on Monday.
Russellville has won 17 consecutive playoff series dating back to 2015. The Golden Tigers are 35-5 in postseason play during that stretch, including a Game 3 record of 4-0.
