I know, I know...the kids have just started back to school, and a lot of you parents are trying to catch your breath from all the preparations, as you should. But when you’ve realized how bored you are without the kids around all day, it will be time to make plans for fall projects and, yes, the holidays.
Now is the time to look around and see what projects you would like to tackle. A little cleaning, a little paint and a repair here and there have the potential to change the entire atmosphere in your home.
Have you ever thought about how the color of paint in a room can change your whole mood? A bedroom decorated with soft colors can help you rest better. A play room can come alive and be more fun with bright, vivid colorful walls, or maybe a bright accent wall. A formal living room can become a better place to entertain guests with more dignified color and decor.
Don’t just pick out a pretty color. Think about the “vibe” you want to create in each room of your home. Do you want it to be relaxing, exciting, fun, playful, restful...? The only limit is your imagination.
Consider using more different colors, even in a formal setting. Small areas of contrast can really help your creation. Remember, there’s no wrong way, just your way, and these days individuality is the most popular style.
The first step is the inspiration. The second step is the motivation. The third step is the preparation. This includes repairing walls, filling nail holes and leveling dents. A hammer, a putty knife, a little spackling and some sandpaper will be needed, for sure.
Next week, wall prep. Remember, help is just around the corner at your local hardware store.
