Honey Do List: Father's Day

Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 16. Yeah, it’s a big deal. Just ask almost anyone.

Son, father, step-father, father-in-law, even grandfather--I am honored to wear  all of these “titles.” I have found them all to be, at times, challenging and rewarding, and I cherish many wonderful memories and look forward to many more memories to be made.

I have learned that any caring “Dad” wants three things for his children. He wants them to be healthy, happy and holy. Of these three, sometimes healthy may not be an option. But we do have control over our attitude, and a healthy attitude is an option.

You can come up with your own definition on the happy and holy part. Just remember to keep it simple. You don’t have to be the pope or a millionaire to define these things for yourself. If you have these qualities, you have already given your dad a “Happy Father’s Day.”

Remember, this is one of the very, very few people in this world that really has a deep, selfless concern for your well being.

On the honey-do list this week, give your dad a call. If it’s not possible, just say “Happy Father’s Day” and smile. He’ll know it.
