Piggy bank project teaches importance of saving money

On April 18-20 and 25-27, the Franklin County Extension teamed up with Carla Hutto, the Parenting Educator and Curriculum Developer of Franklin County Schools, and CB&S Bank for a project that allowed students to make their own piggy banks.

The project’s purpose was to make the students aware of Saving Month and the importance of saving money.

Vanessa King, the Regional Marketing Coordinator from CB&S Bank, also made this possible with her staff. They talked about saving money and asked the kids why they think saving money is important.

“It was really a neat lesson and the kids had some really crazy answers,” said Jennifer Pickens of the Franklin County Extension Office. “It was very fun and educational.”

Representatives from CB&S Bank met with students at six Franklin County Schools, visiting Red Bay on the 18th, Vina on the 19th, Phil Campbell on the 20th, Belgreen on the 25th, East Franklin on the 26th and Tharptown on the 27th of April.
