Russellville Fire Department, Tharptown Elementary among FCCDC grant recipients

The Franklin County Community Development Commission met October 31, 2022, and approved a number of grants to local schools and non-profit agencies.

The commission, which includes Brad Bolton, Jeremy Campbell, Chris Wallace and Charlene Fancher, meets quarterly to review grant applications. The October 31st meeting was the final one for this commission. Franklin County's legislative delegation will make new four-year appointments for the FCCDC after the November 8, 2022, election.

This is the last meeting of the Franklin County Community Development Commission for the quadrennium,” Bolton said. “We would like to thank Sen. (Larry) Stutts and Reps. (Jamie) Kiel and (Proncey) Robertson for allowing us the opportunity to serve.”

Once new appointees are in place, the new FCCDC will announce the date of its next meeting.

With the most recent grants, more than $2.430 million has been returned to Franklin County since the inception of the funding. The funds come from in lieu of tax payments from the Tennessee Valley Authority.

The Franklin County Legislative delegation, Sen. Larry Stutts, Rep. Proncey Robertson and Rep. Jamie Kiel, each make an appointment to the commission to represent them. Franklin County will now be a one House member county, so Kiel and Stutts will each have an appointment along with a rotating appointment of mayors within Franklin County.
