A one-vehicle accident near Red Bay has left a woman dead, according to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver.
A call came into Franklin County 911 around 6:30 a.m., Sunday morning, to report an accident on Highway 247 North near the intersection of 247/County Road 25. Oliver said the location was near the 7 Points area.
Both deputies and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency responded and found a vehicle off the road. The female driver was the lone occupant in the vehicle, Oliver said.
According to information received by law enforcement, the woman was following her husband north on 247. The husband noticed her headlights were no longer behind him and turned around to locate her vehicle.
The investigation into this matter continues, Oliver said.
