Franklin County Hall of Fame Award presented to the late Kelly Moore

Although he wasn't there to see it, Red Bay resident Kelly Moore was posthumously awarded the Franklin County Hall of Fame Award at last month's Franklin County Partnership Awards Banquet.

Moore's family accepted the honor in his behalf. Moore, known as 'Pops' by family and grandchildren and 'JoJo' by his golfing buddies, passed away in January at the age of 71.

The Hall of Fame Award is the centerpiece of awards presented at the annual Partnership Banquet, sponsored by the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce and the Franklin County Development Authority.

The award recognizes one Franklin County resident whose lifetime accomplishments are both outstanding and historically significant to Franklin County.

James McCullar was the other 2024 nominee.

Moore was an active member of the Alabama Walk to Emmaus Community and an avid supporter of the Red Bay Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide. He even spent some time on the radio broadcast team for Red Bay.

Moore's career saw him work at the Bank of Red Bay, Tiffin Motor Homes and CB&S Bank. He served on the Franklin County Board of Education, the Red Bay Lions Club, Red Bay Hospital Board, Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Redmont Recreation Club, Jaycees and he was a charter member of Grace Methodist Church.

Kelly was a wonderful husband, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend,” said Franklin County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cassie Medley. “His legacy will live forever because of how he loved Franklin County, his friends, his family, but most of all his Lord, whom he served well.”
