Shepherd featured artist at June 'Rockin at the Roxy'

Lucas 'L.A.' Shepherd will be performing at the Historic Roxy Theatre on Saturday, June 15 at 7 p.m.

L.A. Shepherd is a well-known classic country music artist whose influences include: George Jones, Keith Whitley, Randy Travis, Sammy Kershaw, and many others. His rich, second-baritone voice blends a complimentary balance of traditional and modern country sound. A single note is all you will need to hear those influences come to life.

Music roots run deep for L.A., as he is the nephew of Number One hit-songwriter, and long-time best friend of country legend George Jones, Earl "Peanutt" Montgomery.

Montgomery penned 73 songs for "The Possum," 31 for "The First Lady of Country Music," Tammy Wynette, Emmylou Harris, Tanya Tucker, Alabama, Etta James, Bob Dylan, and a host of others. Shepherd and Montgomery still work closely together in the music scene even today.

A native of Russellville, Shepherd began singing in church at the age of 5. He wrote his first song, "Sorrow," at the age of only 7. He attended Russellville City Schools throughout his childhood education and spent two years at Northwest-Shoals Community College after that. He has one son, Oliver Shepherd, 3, who Shepherd says is his motivation for chasing this dream they call "music."
L.A. has worked closely with some of the greatest performers and musicians to ever do it. The list includes names such as: Darryl Worley, Georgette Jones, Will McFarlane, Billy Lawson, Cindy Walker, Donny Carpenter, James LeBlanc, Dave Gibson, Greg Crowe, Mark Addison Chandler, Trey Lewis, and the list continues beyond that.

Joining Shepherd is Chris Williams. Chris is a country singer and songwriter from Hamilton.. He has performed at the Roxy and other venues. His biggest dream is to sing on the Grand Ole Opry Stage in Nashville someday!

This will be a great show that you will not want to miss! Tickets are $15 and can be purchased at the door or purchased on the Roxy’s Facebook. The doors open at 6 p.m.
