Russellville City Schools BOE awaiting bids for RHS Stadium turf replacement

At a short meeting held January 21st, the Russellville City Schools Board of Education heard a report from Superintendent Tim Guinn regarding the turf replacement at Russellville High School Stadium.

Last month, the board approved advertising for bids to replace the artificial turf at the stadium. Turf was originally installed at the stadium in 2016.

A pre-bid meeting was held Thursday, January 23rd, to allow prospective bidders to inspect the field and ask any questions prior to bidding. The bid deadline is January 30, 2025, and bids will be opened at 2 p.m., that day. Guinn said anyone interested in watching the bid opening is welcome to attend that day.

Guinn told board members that once the lowest responsible bid is approved, his goal is to have the new turf project completed prior to graduation ceremonies in May 2025.

January is School Board Recognition Month, and this year Russellville Middle School Principal Monica Moon and RMS students shared a message of appreciation to board members, presented each with a gift basket and hosted a reception after the meeting for the board.

Guinn told board members Kim Clonts, Howard Hillman, Ike Rogers, Radford Hester and Greg Trapp how much they are appreciated for their dedication to Russellville City Schools.

“On behalf of the Russellville City Schools Central Office staff and administration, we want to thank you personally for all you do for us,” Guinn said. “You are our liaison to the community. You're also the ones who hear the counterpoints and concerns to decisions we make every day...That's not an easy job and we appreciate all you do every day.”
