In what organizers hope will become a holiday tradition in Russellville, the fourth annual Christmas at City Lake 2024 lighting ceremony will take place Thursday, December 5th after the Russellville Christmas Parade.
The annual Christmas at City Lake is a fund-raiser for the Russellville Hospital Foundation and co-sponsored with the Russellville Parks and Recreation Department.
Its mission is to build long-term partnerships between Russellville Hospital and local communities to promote the advancement of healthcare, enhance the services offered by the hospital and meet the needs of the local community.
Proceeds of this year's Christmas at City Lake will go towards a future emergency room renovation at Russellville Hospital.
Tree selection at City Lake Park ended December 4th. Each sponsor selects a tree and decorates it as they choose. The tree is identified with a personalized sign to identify the sponsor. There is no admission for visitors to enjoy the tree trail, which will be open through January 1, 2025. Trees will be lit each night for the community to enjoy.
Thursday's lighting ceremony will include a special countdown ceremony along with entertainment and some special surprises, organizers say and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
Special 'selfie stations' along the trail will be marked for visitors to enjoy. These are also sponsored by local businesses or individuals.
