Franklin County Schools Board of Education approves 15 personnel moves

The Franklin County Board of Education approved 15 personnel moves at its January 14th meeting.

Among the personnel actions approved by the board were:

Resignation: Victoria Jones, special education teacher, East Franklin Junior High, Trina Franklin, math teacher, Tharptown High School, Elizabeth Wooten, head volleyball coach, Red Bay High School.

Employment: Daryl Taylor, bus driver, Franklin County Schools, Memoree Cochran, special education aide, Franklin County Schools and Sydney Hardin, temporary math teacher, Franklin County Schools.

FMLA Request: Meaghan Reed, elementary teacher, East Franklin Junior High, through March 26, 2025.

Personal leave of absence: Drenda Holland, child nutrition assistant, Belgreen High School, effective December 20, 2024.

New teacher substitutes: Reagan Humphries, Heather Blackburn and Alexandria Manning.

Substitute bus driver: Victoria Jones.

Child Nutrition Substitutes: Dakota White, Belgreen High School, Myra Johnson, Red Bay High School.

Volunteers: Everett Williams, volunteer assistant softball coach, Belgreen.

Other agenda items approved by the board at its January 14th meeting included:

recognizing Molly King and Tharptown Elementary School for being designated a Science of Reading Spotlight School 2024.

approved mileage rate reimbursement paid to individuals traveling in privately owned vehicles on official business from 67 cents to 70 cents per mile effective January 1, 2025.

approve compensation agreement paying Areanna Orozco a one-time supplement of $1,500 and Darrell Baker a one-time supplement of $750 for the 2024 Tharptown Rocketry Season per recommendation by THS Principal Tyler Berryman. THS Rocketry Account will reimburse the Franklin County BOE $2,250 plus applicable benefits.

approve compensation agreement paying Sherry Leigh Smith, yearbook sponsor at East Franklin Junior High $900 for yearbook supplement for the 2024 school year, per recommendation of EFJHS Principal Leann Trapp. East Franklin Junior High will reimburse the Franklin County BOE $900 plus applicable benefits.

approved out-of-state trips including Tharptown girls’ softball team to Belmont, Miss., February 14 and 15, 2025, Phil Campbell High School girls’ softball team to Tremont, Miss., February 17th and PCHS senior class to New York City April 7-11, 2025.

The next meeting of the Franklin County Board of Education is set for March 18, 2025, with work session at 5 p.m., and meeting to follow.
