Doris Glasgow Sweda, age 94, of Russellville, passed away on Sunday, April 06, 2025, at Terrace Manor Nursing Home.
As the last of the Kemper and Lela Glasgow children, she relished in memories of the family reunions and big family get togethers. We all remember her as the "Firecracker", never afraid to voice or take action on all inequalities. She had tremendous success in business and was always known as the hardest worker through her life even with folks a quarter of her age. She was a longtime member of Mt. Home Presbyterian Church. As with all these "Glasgows from Belgreen", we have a lot to be proud of.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Michael G. Sweda (Cynthia), Ronald C. Sweda (Deborah), Carolyn Rumble (David); grandchildren, Kathryn Johnson (Adam), Michael T. Sweda (Chloe), Kristen Champion (Frank), Charles Sweda (Leah), Deanna Cook (Alex), Megan DeLeon (Omar Anguiano), Lily Bond; great-grandchildren, Austin Schwinn, Melody DeLeon, Collin DeLeon, Elizabeth Johnson, Ellie Champion, Alison Champion, Abigail Sweda, Ruby Sweda; and a host of nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kemper Talmadge & Lela Ross (Tompkins) Glasgow, Sr.; and all of her brothers and sisters.
The visitation will be 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will follow in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. The burial will be at Mt. Home Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to Terrace Manor Nursing Home and to the staff of Hospice of North Alabama for your love and care of our family.
