Lady Bulldogs celebrate Homecoming with blowout win over Sheffield

Gabbie Moore and Emma Dempsey each scored 16 points on Friday night, helping Belgreen’s girls celebrate Homecoming with a 64-28 rout of visiting Sheffield.
 
Moore, a junior guard, scored eight points in the first quarter as the Lady Bulldogs (2-1) jumped out to an early 22-6 lead. Sophomore Katie Dempsey also had a big first quarter, going 3-for-4 at the line and scoring seven points.
 
Belgreen stretched the lead to 36-18 by halftime and then sealed the deal with a huge third quarter, out-scoring Sheffield 23-6 to open up a 35-point lead. Emma Dempsey, a freshman post player, led the third-quarter charge with nine points. Senior guard Jasmine Martin knocked down a three in the third quarter, surpassing the 1,000-point mark for her varsity career.
 
Katie Dempsey finished with nine points, and Martin added seven, shooting 4-for-4 from the foul line. Sophomores Autumn Bragwell and Gracie Dempsey each scored five points, and Ansley Tate finished with four. Emma Willingham added two.
 
The Lady Bulldogs were nearly perfect at the foul line, finishing 16-for-19 as a team.
