Lady Bobcats blast Red Bay 17-2 for area win

Phil Campbell broke open a scoreless game with seven runs in the third inning and ten more in the fourth on Tuesday, rolling to a 17-2 rout of area rival Red Bay.
 
Katie Thomas had three hits and three RBIs for the Lady Bobcats, who improved to 10-3 overall and 3-1 in Class 2A, Area 14. Emma Ergle (6-3) earned the win in the circle, striking out seven and allowing just three hits in a four-inning complete game.
 
Phil Campbell didn’t have a hit before getting things going with seven runs in the top of the third. The inning was highlighted by RBI doubles from Thomas and Ergle and an RBI single from Darby Elliott.
 
Red Bay scored twice in the bottom of the third, but the Lady Bobcats put the game out of reach in the top of the fourth. Kenner Scott sparked the 10-run rally with a single, coming home on an RBI triple by Abby Davis. Davis scored on a base hit by Thomas, and the rout was on. Olivia Knight and Leeah Jackson also had RBI singles, and Thomas drove in another run with her second hit of the inning.
 
Jackson finished 2-for-2 with two runs scored and two stolen bases. Scott went 1-for-2 with two RBIs, three runs and three stolen bases. Davis was 1-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored, and Thomas finished 3-for-4. Kallie Allen had six of Phil Campbell's 15 stolen bases and scored three runs.
 
Elliott and Ergle each went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, and Kaci Harris was 1-for-2 with two runs scored. Chloe Roberson also scored twice, and Knight was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run.
