This weekend will be a can’t-miss opportunity for Russellville football fans.
On Saturday, August 9, from 9 a.m. until noon, Golden Tiger Stadium will host Black and Gold Day, an event where the community can come out and meet current Golden Tiger athletes of all ages.
“We wanted to start something that was all things Russellville Football from youth all the way to high school. This is something that I’ve been able to be a part of in other communities and it’s a really neat day,” Russellville High School athletic director and head football coach Dustin Goodwin said.
The day will kick off at 9 a.m. with an introduction of the youth cheerleaders and the flag football players and coaches. That will be followed at 9:30 a.m. by a youth tackle football scrimmage.
Around 10:30 a.m. the Russellville Middle School football players and cheerleaders will be introduced right before the Marching 100 takes the field at 10:45.
The morning will be capped by a Meet the Tigers event with the RHS football players and cheerleaders. That will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Throughout the day, there will be food and refreshments available for purchase. There will also be inflatables set up for even more entertainment.
Admission to Black and Gold Day is $5 (ages under five are free) with a $3 price for wristbands for the inflatables. All proceeds go to benefit the Russellville football program.
“Black and Gold Day is a lot of work to pull together and takes a lot of people, but I believe it’s worth it. I know that it will only grow moving forward but that’s the direction we want to go,” Goodwin said.
